Birthday Treat Day is the day at work where all of the health nuts go for the goods - cupcakes, cheese and crackers, olives, hummus, pita chips, bread, and more. And on this day, I have my eyes on the gold: cheesy garlic artichoke bread! It is one INDULGENT, sinful treat. Crusty bread topped with tangy artichokes and creamy cheese spread. It’s like spinach artichoke dip without the spinach (no need to worry about green in your teeth!) and it’s a ready to bit treat. Since it’s not always a birthday treat staple, I decided to learn how to make my own.
Savory, rich, and delicious! This is a special occasion treat like for birthdays or maybe something more casual like Sunday football snacking. It’s easy to get addicted so be careful! And enjoy this decadent salty, cheesy treat! 10 days until birthday treats at work and I definitely have my fingers crossed. If not, I’ll have to make my own!
cheesy artichoke bread

Small bowl, baking sheet
Prep: 5-10 minutes, Broil 4-7 minutes
One loaf of french bread or round of your favorite bakery bread
1-14oz can of marinated artichoke hearts, drained
1 clove of garlic, minced
1 cup of sour cream
1 cup cheddar cheese
1 cup parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon black ground pepper
Chili flakes for taste
1 teaspoon chopped herbs (parsley, rosemary or thyme)
2 green onions, chopped, for garnish (optional)
Turn on the broiler. Cut the french bread lengthwise in half.
Mix all the ingredients except 1/2 cup of the cheddar cheese and green onion together in a bowl. Spread onto the bread. Top with remaining 1/2 cup cheddar cheese.
Broil on the on the second highest rack for 4-7 minutes. If you are nervous, start checking around minute 3.
Cool for 5 minutes and slice. Top with green onions and serve!
Spread to the edge of the bread because the edges burn if they are not coated!
If you're broiler is below the stove and oven, make sure you cut the bread evenly. You do not want a side super close to the element.
